AK-01 Tourbillon Chronograph Monopusher watch by Rexhep Rexhepi, front view

An original case design

Rexhep Rexhepi always knew that his first timepiece would feature a complication of extraordinary craftsmanship. Early in his career, he discovered the profound artistry of a finely made tourbillon, an experience that inspired him to create his very first watch. From this horological exigence was born the natural desire to dress it in an exterior equal to its ambition.

Composed of 30 components, the case of the AK-01 was conceived to be neither a round nor tonneau-shape, instead Rexhep Rexhepi sought to create an original form that was distinctive, both aesthetically unique and easily recognisable.

AN INTRICATE movement construction

The AK-01 movement was designed to showcase both the tourbillon and chronograph mechanisms on the dial. Even so, perfect symmetry is maintained on the movement, in keeping with Rexhep Rexhepi’s design codes. The calibre is further decorated with a range of traditional decoration such as Côtes de Genève, black polishing, and anglage with inward angles, all applied by hand.

Dreaming of a tourbillon

From the start of his career, Rexhep Rexhepi knew his first timepiece would have to feature a tourbillon. The idea took root when he was a teenage apprentice at Patek Philippe: the moment he stepped into the quality control workshop and encountered for the first time the masterful tourbillon wristwatch with a ten-day power reserve.

The symmetrical face

The symmetrical dial of the AK-01 features the constant seconds at two o'clock, a 30-minute counter at ten o'clock, and the 100-hours power reserve indicator just below. The chronograph's column wheel is visible at 12 o'clock through an aperture. The chronograph is activated with the single pusher integrated into the crown.
