Chronomètre Contemporain

A New Chapter
"Scientific" Watch with a Contemporary Twist

Design Inspiration

Rexhep Rexhepi created the Chronomètre Contemporain to capture classic forms in a contemporary design. The watch is characterized by elongated, hand-soldered lugs, giving it a sophisticated silhouette that sits comfortably on the wrist. By combining a classical round shape with modern Art Deco-inspired details, the Chronomètre Contemporain blends tradition with forward-thinking design.

Innovative Movement

The RRCC-01 calibre inside the Chronomètre Contemporain is a testament to Rexhep Rexhepi’s dedication to functional beauty and precision. This manual-winding movement features a hacking seconds function with automatic zero-reset for precise time-setting. The single-barrel design offers an impressive 100-hour power reserve, ensuring consistent timekeeping and reducing the frequency of manual winding. Drawing inspiration from historical pocket watches, the RRCC-01 provides a satisfying winding experience with a distinctive mechanical sound, underscoring its blend of traditional craftsmanship and modern innovation.

Craftsmanship and Finishing

Every component of the RRCC-01 is meticulously crafted and finished by hand at the ATELIER AKRIVIA. Techniques like anglage, black polish, and Côtes de Genève are applied with precision, requiring months of intensive labour by expert artisans. This commitment to traditional finishing techniques not only enhances the aesthetic appeal but also honours traditional principles of Swiss watchmaking, particularly fine watchmaking in Geneva.

A Modern Classic Dial

The dial of the RRCC I showcases traditional Genevan enamelling, featuring grand feu enamel in black, adorned with gold lines inspired by Art Deco style. The lines create an alternating sector around the Roman numerals, giving the dial a harmonious, segmented layout. A large subsidiary seconds at six o’clock is a nod to historical “officer's” watches while adding a focal point that enhances readability. The combination of symmetrical and asymmetrical elements brings a unique aesthetic tension to the dial, which is complemented by the concave and convex surfaces along the 5N rose gold case and lugs.
